Myron (Mike) Thomas Rizzo

Rizzo, Myron (Mike) Thomas transitioned to Heaven Sunday, 10-27-2024 from an aggressive Lung Cancer diagnosed in September.  Blessed with two daughters, Ginger holding his hand with Tracy nearby and wife Joyce holding the other hand, he took his last breath peacefully leaving us grateful for God’s mercy yet deeply mourning his worldly companionship.

Born & raised in rural PA, he shared his love and heart with beloved ones between two states.  Born 12-18-1951, the youngest of 5 children, in Scranton, PA, he was raised in rural PA graduating from Mountain View HS, class of 1969.  He then moved with parents to Largo, FL.  While serving in the Air Force and commuting between Cocoa Beach & Largo, he met his wife Joyce, also raised in rural PA, on Clearwater Beach getting married July 16, 1971.  After his Air Force service Myron (Mike) utilized his talents with HVAC & Electrical skills to build a career working within the hotel industry at Belleview Biltmore, Holiday Inn, Adam’s Mark & Sirata Resort while raising a family, 2 daughters & 4 grandkids, in sunny FL yet annually visiting friends, family & hunting in rural PA where his heart’s first love never faded,

Myron (Mike) joined his mother, Mildred Thomas Rizzo, father, Eugene John Rizzo,  brothers Eugene & Leonard Rizzo, along with beloved nephew Tim Gardner & great nephew Brad Jenkins awaiting him in Heaven.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Shirley Rizzo; two daughters, Tracy Rizzo Tanfield & Ginger Rizzo Weigel; two sisters, Martha Rizzo Jenkins & Sam (Beverly) Rizzo Cooley; four grandkids, Abrianna, Ricky, Gabbie & Braxton; nephews, Jeff, Walt, Ralph, Richard, Gene Jr. & Dean; nieces, Debbie & Patty, along with many in-laws, great nieces & nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles.

Since Myron (Mike) shared his life between two states, memorials will be held in both FL & PA.

For our FL friends & family, a memorial celebration of his life will be held at 1:00PM Sunday November 10, 2024 at Crossroads Christian Church, 1645 Seminole Blvd. Largo, FL 33778 in the main worship hall followed with refreshments in the church community room (Café).

For our PA friends & family; Interment at West Lenox Baptist Church Cemetery Saturday November 23, 2024 will be followed by a celebration of life get-together to share loving memories.  More details to follow.

Heaven holds some dearly missed loved ones. We will always carry their memory in our hearts.  Please share/write your favorite memory of Myron (Mike) in the Memorial Book on the sign in table.  Appreciatively, Joyce Rizzo

  8. Rest in peace Uncle Myron. Wish we had one more visit to see you. But you are healed now and with your brothers. I’m glad we have many good memories of you. Your soul is in heaven now. You are missed!

  9. Myron was most comfortable in Jeans & T-shirts. With that in mind casual attire is perfectly fine at the celebrations of life.
Your presence is the greatest gift, a shared memory written in the book will be a greatly appreciated lasting tribute.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to our Crossroads Christian Church Outreach Center or the American Cancer Society.
