Mark Sanders Roberson, 67, of Palm Harbor, FL, went to be with his Savior on Thursday, September 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife, his siblings, and four of his children.
Although born in NY, Mark only resided there for nine months, since his father, John, was a U.S. Air Force pilot and the family moved several times during his youth. His loving mother, Bettye, was a wonderful homemaker and mother to six children. Despite having lived all around the country, Mark lived most of his life in North Carolina and Florida and considered those states to be home.
Mark received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at North Carolina State University. He spent the majority of his career as a Mainframe Systems Programmer, first at Florida Federal Savings, where he met his wife, Christine, and later at IBM, GXS and OpenText. Mark retired in 2022.
Mark and Christine were married in 1987 and raised their four children in Pinellas County, Florida. Mark’s daughter Erika, from a previous marriage, currently resides in New Zealand. He was an incredibly kind and loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.
Mark was an active member of his church, Calvary Chapel Palm Harbor, and was an avid and accomplished competitive marksman, an excellent contract bridge player, and a coin collector. Mark’s success in coin collecting may be a likely cause for our national coin shortage. His calm and steadfast demeanor made him invaluable in times of crisis, and a word of encouragement from Mark was enough to dispel any fear or uncertainty. He was known for being incredibly literal and also for his sense of humor, though oftentimes his jokes were purely for his own amusement.
He is survived by his wife, Christine, sons Jesse, Jacob (Megan) and Samuel (Madison), daughters Erika (Clem) and Danica, grandchildren Kupa, Harper, Luka and Hallelujah, by siblings David (Nancy), Philip, Ann (Dana) and Alan, as well as uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on November 11, 2023 at Calvary Chapel Palm Harbor, with visitation beginning at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following ministries, both of which were very near and dear to Mark and Christine. HopeAlive268.org OR AbideInTruth.org

Mark was such a blessing to us and our church family. He always had a way to make me smile and laugh. What a true testimony his life is. He will be missed but only for awhile since we will see him again soon!
I met Mark through my cousin Chris. We were instantly drawn to his friendly personality. My husband Rob immediately felt comfortable with Mark too. He was an incredibly talented person. He was a great father to all his children and a wonderful husband to my cousin, Chris. My prayers go out to his entire family. We know God must have needed a fantastic IT support person in heaven. Rest in peace. ♥️🙏🏻♥️ Rob & Cindi Cunneen-Buckel
My deepest sympathies to you, Chris, family and friends.
May Mark’s journey through his life here bring him praise at the city gate.
Mark was a great friend and teammate of mine back in the days we worked at IBM. Even though I was in NY office, he made me feel as if I was next door or cubicle.. very smart, quiet and good to work with.
He will be missed !!!
My condolences to Chris and the whole family.
