Kenneth (Ken) Jacob Toms

Kenneth Jacob Toms (Ken) passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2025 after battling congestive heart failure.  Ken was born in 1946 in Camden New Jersey and moved to the Largo Florida area after retiring from DuPont. 

Kenneth Jacob Toms, age 78 of Largo FL, passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2025, after battling congestive heart failure for the last year.  Ken was born in 1946 in Camden New Jersey to Jacob and Martha Toms, and resided in Hardingville, NJ.  He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Martha and his brother Rick.  He resided in Harding

ville until his retirement from DuPont, when he relocated to Largo Florida.  Ken was a graduate of Delsea High in Franklinville NJ and was very active with the reunion committee and keeping in touch with classmates.

Ken had a lifelong passion for fishing especially with his grandchildren, a member of Indian Rocks Baptist Church where he enjoyed participation in 50’s+ as well as the traditional worship, support of local veterans’ activities, and travel.  He often talked about a trip to visit his daughter Stacey in Alaska in which he enjoyed fishing for halibut and hiking to Exit Glacier in Seward AK

Ken is survived by his three daughters Stacey Matteson of Anchorage Alaska, Kimberly Nichols of Pittsgrove New Jersey, and Shannon Argo of Newark Delaware as well as grandchildren Brian Nichols Jr., Timothy Nichols and Robert Priest and great grandchildren Brantley Nichols and Trevor Nichols.

No services are planned at this time but a Celebration of Life is being scheduled in the early part of the summer.

  1. Ken was an incredible man. He loved to be on the water he loved God. What was his neighbor . David I loved him very much my name is Chrissy we enjoyed him very very much we had them for Thanksgiving and Christmas the time we had with him was incredible we laughed we shared dinners we shared stories we gave each other a hard time with your stories about his girls and his and his grandsons he loved them terribly he shared stories about his business and his Christmas trees. He seemed to have a fulfilled life. He enjoyed his job at Publix. He loved his boss and all is fellow employees at Publix. He definitely made an impact in our lives and I’ll never forget him that. There’s a people coming to your lives for some reason sometime and for some reasons and I believe that and he made an impact in ours . And for the time that we had was so special. I am thankful I am blessed there are reasons for everything and I believe for the years that we’ve had and the impact we’ve had on each other’s lives and the time we had forever being special. God definitely needed Angel to watch all over us he took a very special person who deserved wings took away his pain and Stacy Shannon Kim his grandsons David and I will forever have an angel watching over us it’s never goodbye it’s it’s farewell Ken. I love you my friend. 🥰🙏
