Eugene (Gene) Wilzinski died November 12, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. He was 77 years old and died peacefully at Suncoast Hospice in Pinellas Park, FL.
Gene served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969 in Korea. In later years he enjoyed working as a mail carrier for 35 years with USPS. He was known by many as the friendly mailman because of how easily he formed friendships with the customers along his route.
Gene always loved old cars and in his later years enjoyed restoring vintage bicycles. During his 14 years of retirement he and his wife, Christine, realized their dream when they purchased a condo in Treasure Island, a small beach community.
He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Christine, and their son Adam Wilzinski, daughter-in-law Angelina Daetz-Wilzinski, & grandson Aidan Wilzinski. Also included as family are many close & treasured friends, extended family members, neighbors, and co-workers, all who have held a special place in his life.
The family is deeply grateful for the extraordinary care provided by the physicians and staff at St. Anthony’s Hospital. In addition, the family will forever be grateful to everyone at Suncoast Hospice during Gene’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, Clearwater.
