Edward David Salway

Edward David Salway, 72, of St.  Petersburg, Florida, passed away on April 23, 2025 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.
Edward “David “was born to Edward Arthur Salway and Hazel Virginia Wilcher in Troy, New York, on March 24, 1953.
After attending Watertown High School Edward joined the United States Navy, serving his country proudly.
After his service, Edward moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where he was a manager of Arthur Treacher’s Fish and Chips and then for the St.  Petersburg Times.
Edward “David“, finished out his career working for the Bay Pines Veterans Administration as Maintenance Supervisor for 30 years before retiring from the Bay Pines VA.

David was immensely loved by his family. His family will remember him as having a huge, giving heart, to anyone in need; having compassion for others and a hard worker. David wasn’t big on sharing, sweet words or overt gestures of love, but had an innate sense of protection towards those he loved and cared about.
David received many recognitions for his hard work and hard work ethics at the Bay Pines VA administration. One of my personal favorite awards David received was his “Most Creative” parking award.
David had many friends and his home was a place where friends gathered on the weekends to play the game of “Risk” and Darts.
David’s collection of antiques and unique items were as interesting and unique as David was.

David was survived by: Sisters Diane  (Clark) Peters, Debbie Pacella, Joanne (Bruce) Johnson, and Jeanine (Donny) Adams.
Brothers:  William Salway, Michael Salway, Edward Anthony Salway, and Bill ( Yvonne) Mushtare. And many nieces and nephews.
