Axel Gerardo Gilbert

Axel Gerardo Gilbert, of Largo, FL passed away on April 18, 2023, at 20 years young. Proceeded in death by his grandmother, Lupita Poppo and taken too soon, he left behind his father John A. Gilbert, Jr. and his mother Tina Marie Hills Macias-Poppo, his five siblings Derik, John, Jeremy, Samantha, and Daniele Gilbert, his son, Zakai Alexander, the mother of his child, Adrienne Curtain, sisters-in-law Emilee, Sarah, and Allison Gilbert, sister-in-love Kayla Grizwald, eight nieces and nephews, Krysti-Jo, Karli-Jay, Alara, Harrison, Hadlee, Naomi, Hayes, and Ezra, his grandparents John, Sr. and Laurel Gilbert, Bill and Helen Weisgerber, Jack Poppo, James and Loretta Flowers, his Aunt Cathy Gilbert, cousins Chris and Sean, his extended family Alicia, Tony, Alex, Andre, Teri, Dante, and brubbas across Pinellas County. 


Thank you all for your outpouring of love and kindness as you shared your hearts about Axel. We are overcome with the number of people who loved him dearly, saw in him the great potential we saw, and understood he was an exceptional young man. Thank you for pledging your support to Zakai. Nothing on this earth made Axel happier than his son and being with people he loved.

Axel, you never were, nor will you ever be alone – our hearts are with you always and we will miss you until we meet again.

  1. A piece of my heart has been taken and replaced with a black hole. It wants nothing more than to consume. A contagious smile a beautiful laugh amazing friends and his beautiful child,among other things will always keep that black hole at bay,as memory will forever burn bright.

  3. Cuando eras un recién nacido hasta los 2 años, te hablé mucho español. Entendiste. Tú eras el único que comparte eso conmigo. Te amo, mi corazón, mi dulce y hermoso bebé.
