Stephen G Matysek

Stephen G. Matysek, 66, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, after a lifelong battle with medical issues. He leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Born to John and Rita Matysek, Stephen was the beloved sibling of five: Rita Dirhan of Big Pine Key, Florida; John Matysek, Jr. of Mineral, Virginia; Paul Matysek of Holly Ridge, North Carolina; Janine (Barry) Young of Hudson, Florida; and Patrice (Dan) Brodahl of Huffman, Texas. Additionally, he is survived by five nieces and nephews, along with four greatnieces and greatnephews.

Stephen graduated from Albemarle County High School in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1977. His passion for music led him to play the trumpet both in school and with a community band. Beyond his musical talents, Stephen was known for his quick wit, engaging personality, and remarkable memory for sports trivia. He enjoyed good food, playing bingo and attending Bible Study.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will take place at Glen Haven Memorial Cemetery in Winter Park, Florida, on a future date. Friends and family whose lives were touched by Stephen are invited to join in sharing their memories and stories.

Stephen’s favorite phrase, “I WAS THINKING,” will echo in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
