Richard D. Gajan

Richard D. Gajan, Sr., 78, of Dunedin, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 11, 2024, at home surrounded by family and loved ones.

Richard was born in Coal Center, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Joseph and Lucy Gajan.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rosemary Ferreira Gajan, and his brother Thomas Gajan.

After graduating from California Senior High School, Richard joined the U.S. Navy. After the Navy, he spent his career as an automotive mechanic.

Richard loved baseball, spending many years coaching his son’s little league teams, and watching any baseball game on television, especially the Pirates and the Rays. He also loved going out on his boat fishing. Above all, Richard loved his children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are four sons and two daughters, Richard Gajan, Jr. and wife Penny of Spring Hill, Christoper Gajan and wife Kimberly of Holiday, Brandan Gajan and wife Gabby of Dunedin, Matthew Gajan and partner Amber Nash of Dunedin, Diane Chandler and partner Charles Silsby of Holiday, and Brook Gajan and partner Michael Bryant of Holiday; two sisters and three brothers, Joanne Lawrence and husband Terry of Edwardsville, IL, Linda Stull and husband John of Virginia Beach, VA, Harry Gajan and wife Jennifer of Lyons, NY, Joe Gajan and wife Carol of Coal Center, PA, and Mike Gajan and wife Rosemary of Stafford, VA. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Bradford, Cali, Cameron, Zoey, Kaitlyn, Ella, Caleb, Gabriel, Lyla, Hayden, Sadie, Madison, and Joseph; one great-grandson, York; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to Amber Nash for the loving care she provided to Richard at home over the last 8 months of his life. 

A celebration of life for Richard will be planned in the coming weeks. Details will be shared by the family.
