Peter “Pete” Charles Hoffman, Sr.
, 65, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, after a long illness, with his loving wife, Kristen, and their son, PJ, by his side.

Pete was born on October 18, 1960, in Waynesboro, Virginia, to Ray and Marilyn (Howk) Hoffman. His family later moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1966, and then to Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, in 1970.

He graduated from Bethel Park High School in 1978 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1983. During his time there, he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Pete spent many years working in retail and management before becoming permanently disabled in 2010 due to illness.

A passionate Pittsburgh sports fan, Pete was known for his love of all things Pittsburgh and was an avid collector of sports memorabilia. He especially loved baseball and football and could often be heard cheering on the Steelers on any given Sunday, while sharing stories of his admiration for Roberto Clemente. He was also a ten-year veteran of the Pittsburgh Pirates Fantasy Camp, where he formed lifelong friendships and was affectionately known as “Hoffy.”

On August 8, 2011, Pete married the love of his life, Kristen, and together they shared 17 years of deep love, commitment, and partnership. In 2021, they moved to Clearwater, Florida, where Pete enjoyed cruising along the coast in his prized 1965 Ford Mustang. He also shared a special bond with the family’s beloved dog, Snickers, who brought him great joy.

Until becoming severely ill in 2023, Pete was a devoted advocate for autism and served as PJ’s primary caregiver for many years. He shared a deeply special bond with PJ, cherishing every moment they spent together.

Pete is survived by his beloved wife, Kristen (Schacht) Hoffman; his children, Melanie (Sergio) Juarez, Peter Jr. (PJ), and stepdaughter, Stephanie Shakespeare; his sisters, Karen (Rich) Viggiano and Ginny (Matt) Kotok; his sister-in-law, Marge Hoffman (wife of the late Jeff Hoffman); as well as many nieces, nephews, and his cherished grandsons, Sergio Jr. and Roman Juarez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Marilyn Hoffman; his brother, Jeff Hoffman; his sister, Mary Lou Hoffman; and his beloved cat, MuMu.

A celebration of Pete’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, on April 18, 2026, at 2:30 PM, followed by a memorial gathering at the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Pete’s memory to the American Heart Association (heart.org), the National Kidney Foundation (kidney.org), or Pittsburgh Pirates Charities (pirates.com).
