Nicola “Rocky” Giorgio, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Giorgio; his children, Melissa Irby, Dean Giorgio, and Deana; his cherished grandchildren, Justin Reynolds, Vincenzo Giorgio, Savannah Shandor, Marco Giorgio, Jacob Walin, Mackenzie Giorgio, and Jon Irby; as well as his beloved great-grandchildren. Nicola was preceded in death by his children, Robert Giorgio, Lee Plafker, and Michael Giorgio.
Nicola was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, and relocated to Florida in 1978. He proudly served his country as a Sargent in the Korean War. Following his military service, he dedicated more than 50 years to the Hod Carriers Local 243, contributing his skills to the construction of notable landmarks including UMass General and the EcoTarium in Worcester, Massachusetts.
A true craftsman, Nicola loved working with his hands and was always building or fixing projects around the house. He deeply enjoyed family gatherings, good food, and good drinks, and had a special love for traveling—especially trips to Las Vegas. One of his greatest joys was teaching his grandchildren how to play a good game of cards.
Nicola will be remembered for his sharp wit, wonderful cooking, love of dancing and music, and the deep love he shared with his family. He was truly cherished and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Suncoast Hospice in Nicola’s memory.

My most favorite uncle. He will be missed so very much for his humor, his “Italian” big voice, and the twinkle in his eye “mischievous”!
Sending prayers and hugs to Aunt Barbara, the kids, and the rest of the family.

Rob & I are so sorry for your loss. You’ll continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. We met Rocky once and right away he put a smile on our face and made us laugh. Talking on the phone with you listening to him talk he just continued to put a smile on our face. Even only meeting him once he’s someone you’ll never forget. He’s definitely left a lasting impression.
