October 3, 1958 – June 4, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Peter Bryan, who departed this life on June 4, 2025, at the age of 66. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, John spent his later years in Safety Harbor, Florida, where he lived a life full of vibrant energy and humor.

John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Elizabeth Louise Troja and Gerald Aloysius Bryan. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kelley; his loving daughter, Allie; his sister, Mary Beth; his brother, James (Jim); and his love bug, Nutmeg. He was also blessed with a big extended family, including many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

John was a proud graduate of Trinity High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Louisville and his Masters of Business Administration at Xavier University. John enjoyed his career in marketing and sales, where his personable nature and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

John’s passion for sports ran deep—not only as a devoted fan but also as an athlete. Throughout his life, he found joy and purpose in running cross country, bowling, playing golf, and basketball. Whether competing or cheering from the sidelines, John embraced the spirit of the game with heart and camaraderie.

A lifelong lover of food, John’s enthusiasm for meals shared with family and friends became one of his most treasured ways to connect. His nickname, John “Pizza” Bryan, speaks to that joyful side of him—welcoming, fun-loving, and always ready to bring people together around the table.

John will be remembered not only for his love of sports and food, but also for his sense of adventure and travel. After John and his wife, Kelley, eloped on a cruise in Barbados, they could often be found cruising from port to port or road-tripping around national parks.

A service to celebrate John’s life will be held on July 26th, from noon to 4PM at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Suncoast Animal League or Suncoast Hospice.

  1. John was my first friend when I moved to Florida from Georgia in 2004 when it was my good fortune to be his work colleague. Even after our employer imploded we kept up and had a lot of fun for over 14 years. Luckily from knowing John came my new State Farm agent Kelley Renfroe Bryan. What a perfect match those two were! Over the years we golfed together, took in all kinds of different eateries, went to Rays games, Kentucky Derby day parties, lots and lots of Bucs football and enjoyed years together in the same fantasy football league. John and Kelley, as every friend of theirs knows, loved having with friends over and threw frequent soirees at Casa Rainbow Farms in Safety Harbor. What great party planners. John was an enthusiastic aficionado of whatever smoked meats I’d bring to the gatherings being especially fond of my smoked country style pork ribs glazed with sweet baby rays sauce. After retirement we moved back to GA and I came to miss our fun times. Rest in Peace John. God Bless You. Thanks for being such a great dependable friend whom I’ll always remember fondly.
