Jerry Lee Berg went home to be with Jesus on April 6th surrounded by family after a long illness. He was born February 7, 1939 to Walter and Mary Opal (Butner) Berg in Muncie, IN. He attended Muncie and Selma, IN schools and married the love of his life Patricia McKibben on December 6, 1974. They were married 50 years! He worked 42 years for Borg Warner in Muncie, IN before retiring to Tarpon Springs, FL in 2001.
Jerry was a loving family man with four children: John Berg (Tami), Amy Berg, Alison Gillespie (Charlie deceased) all of Muncie, IN, Christy Koelndorfer (Nick) of Wesley Chapel, FL. Four grandchildren: Sheralyn Berg Pierce (John) of Chicago, IL, Ryan Berg (Carol) of Carmel, IN, Orion Koelndorfer and Caloi Koelndorfer of Wesley Chapel, FL. Two great grandchildren: Sydney and Elliot Berg of Carmel, IN. Sisters: Donna Herron, Judy Priest, and Linda Garriott (Terry) of Selma, IN, and several nieces and nephews. His parents and sister, Dollie Beard, preceded him in going to heaven.
Jerry was an avid fisherman and loved teaching his children, grandchildren and friends to fish at his Tarpon Springs home that sat on the Anclote River. He lovingly baited hooks, took fish off and cleaned them for everyone. He loved sitting on his porch with a hot cup of coffee watching boats, dolphins and manatees come and go just feet away. He also loved car racing and watched or recorded every Nascar race he could.
His family wishes to thank Pasco, Pinellas County, FL Hospice and all of the doctors and nurses that helped to make his journey home as comfortable as possible. Jerry knew Jesus and is now wrapped in His loving arms and reunited with family and friends that have gone before him.
A celebration of life will take place in Muncie, IN at a later time.
