Angel L. (Urive) Joyce

Angel L. (Urive) Joyce, 61 of Tampa, Florida, went home to be with the Lord and reunited with her mother Ruth and Grandma Gladys on January 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Angel was born to Jose and Ruth Urive on April 10, 1964, in Bayonne, New Jersey. She moved to Tampa, Florida, in 1973 and became a faithful member of the First Methodist Church of Lutz. She met her soulmate, Joseph ‘Anthony’ Joyce, in her youth and was married on September 28, 1991, by Reverend David H. Talley. Most people referred to them as “two peas in a pod” for their shared interests and similarities. She worked at the VA Hospital for many years before pursuing her passion in gemology as a jeweler. She traveled through many states visiting family and making new friends at watch conventions over the years that followed. Her love for children was evident in her daily life and she enjoyed passing down knowledge to future generations. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and making her mother’s peanut butter pie recipe. She was an avid reader of many novels and loved snuggling with her kitties. She cherished long visits with her daughter having artwork of roses and dragons painted on her beautiful, long nails.

In 2021, Angel began her courageous battle against metastatic breast cancer. Despite hurdles along the way, she never lost hope. Her doctors often referred to her as “the miracle patient” due to her strength and determination to defy the odds. Through her challenges, she found joy in helping others and was always willing to share her knowledge with anyone it could benefit. She even completed the Miles for Moffitt event every year following her diagnosis. Although her hope never wavered, her final moments were caused by complications of disease progression. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sister: Marie (Urive) Burnette of Arden, North Carolina; brother: Jo Urive of Tampa, Florida; husband: Joseph ‘Anthony’ Joyce of Tampa, Florida; daughters: Louky (Joyce) Yeager of Lutz, Florida; Onnah Kassar of Lutz, Florida; grandchildren: Julian Jarrels of Lindsay, Oklahoma; Angela (Jarrels) Werner of Arkansas; Kayla Jarrels of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; Kaden Hankins of Lutz, Florida; Ashton Timm of Lutz, Florida; as well as many other cherished family members and close family friends.

A private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held 2pm Saturday, February 28, 2026, at The Lutz Family Church in Lutz, Florida, with Pastor Chris and Pastor Rick officiating the service. The family will receive visitors during the reception to follow. Cremation provided for final resting.

  1. I always enjoyed visiting with Angel and Anthony at their shop in the Tampa Flea Market when I was working off-duty their. Being able to chat with them helped to pass the time and I enjoyed getting to know them. Angel and I had similar outspoken life perspectives while Anthony would just smile/laugh and nod in agreement. Though I’ve not seen them on a few years, her presence will be missed in the world.
