Amos John Money of South Lebanon, Ohio, entered the presence of the Lord on October 15, 2026, at his home in Clearwater, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. He was 87.
Amos, known as Pappy to his family, was born in Clay County, Kentucky, on April 16, 1939, where he was the oldest of 12 siblings. He grew up in Ohio and after graduating high school, where he played football and ran track, Amos enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
Following his school and military service, Amos embarked on a lengthy business career that spanned several decades and professions. In South Lebanon, he owned a barber shop and sold real estate, where he got to know many of the area residents and was beloved by all for his extensive knowledge, engaging personality and strong devotion to his friends and family, and the church.
In the late1980s, Amos began working for his good friend, Homer Duff, in the restaurant business at Stacey’s Buffet in Florida, where he became the President in charge of overseeing the operations of several franchises around the state. Amos was known for being conscientious, thorough, and dedicated to making sure each location was clean, well maintained, and committed to customer service. His warm smile and calm demeanor made him beloved by everyone who came through Stacey’s doors. Upon leaving Stacey’s Buffet, Amos returned to selling real estate in Ohio and retired in 2009.
Amos was a devoted husband and father who is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Sonja Money, and their children: Theresa Money Rosenfield (and husband Jeffrey), of Clearwater, FL; Michelle Money of Largo, FL; and Amos John Money, II (and wife Stacy), of Maineville, Ohio. Above all else, his family was his absolute priority, and he truly loved being surrounded by them. His legacy of love lives on through his grandchildren: Taren (and husband Ryan), Derek, Drew, AJ, Taylor, and great-grandchildren: Haylee, Meyah, Easton, Harley, Zoe, who deeply treasured every moment spent with their beloved Pappy. He always thrived in their company, creating lasting memories that they will forever hold close to their hearts.
A memorial service for Amos will be scheduled, in Florida and Ohio, at times and dates that are yet to be determined. In his honor, the family encourages you to spend an extra moment embracing your loved ones, as family was truly his greatest joy.
Amos ran his race with unwavering endurance. While he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in knowing that he has received his heavenly reward and heard the words of Mark 25:21 that he worked a lifetime to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
