Joe E. Steele II

Joe E Steele II

Brother

July 27, 1961 – January 24. 2022

Joey our brother passed away peacefully in his home in Hudson Fl Monday January 24th at 10:00 am. Two of his three sisters “Melissa and Christy” and one of his brother-in-law’s “Orval” were with him when he passed.

Joe had been battling heart disease and blander cancer for many years. It suddenly became too much for his heart to endure. He is now in peace and will join his mother “Molly”, lifetime partner “Mickey”, his grandfather “Ed”, grandmother “Pearl” and grandmother “Drew.”

Joe was born in Hartsville SC and raised in Charlotte NC. After his high school graduation, he moved to Ocean Isle Beach NC where he worked in our family’s restaurants. He and Micky later moved on to Hudson FL.

Joe had a knack and talent for decorating. He had an exquisite eye for home design which best showed in his beautiful home. He collected blown glass, nautical items for his home and roosters.

Joe is survived by three sisters, Melissa Congram of St. Petersburg FL, Debbie Rice of Charlotte NC and Christy Wheeler of Mint Hill NC. Two Brother-in- Law’s, Orval Wheeler and Kevin Rice. Three nieces, Ashley King, Emily Thomas and Madison Pennington. Two nephews Louie Thomas and Shane Rice. A Stepmother Shelia Steele, many cousins and great nieces.

Joe had many friends and neighbors in his community. He enjoyed entertaining and often attended mixers and parties with those friends and neighbors.

Joe was cherished by many and will be missed by us all. He no longer has to suffer as he has now joined those loved ones who passed before him.

God saw that he was getting tired

And a cure was not to be.

So, he put his arms around him,

And whispered, “come with me.”

With tearful eyes we watched him fade away.

Although we loved him dearly,

We could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating.

Hard working hands put to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to The American Cancer Society https://donate3.cancer.org  in Joe’s memory.
