Barbara S. Stromberg, 89, of Largo, Florida, passed peacefully away on the 22nd of September 2021. She was born in Rome, NY, on October 13,1931. She moved to Largo in 1968 where she raised her children.
Barbara was a beloved teacher in Hillsborough County for more than 30 years. She taught Home Economics/Child Care at Monroe Jr. High School, Leto High School, Jefferson High School, and Chamberlain High School.
Barbara is survived by her sister Joan Hale (GA), her six children Barbara Cannistra (NC), Karen Stromberg-Werder (Clearwater), Gary Stromberg (NY), Darrell Stromberg (AL), Edmund Stromberg (OH), Daniel Stromberg (VA), 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren who she loved dearly.
She enjoyed the friendships of so many, and she fostered these relationships by hosting parties with cherished family and friends. Her relationship with God was central to her life, and she lived her life in His graces. She was a Stephen Minister, sang in two choirs, and welcomed worshippers each Sunday with her warm gracious smile. She enjoyed the outdoors, travelling, walking, driving, feeding her birds, and reading.
A committal service will be held at the Memorial Garden at Anona United Methodist Church at a later date.
Barbara was a strong supporter of many charitable organizations. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Barbara Stromberg’s name.
