SSgt. Roy F. Downing, Jr., 72, of Clearwater, FL, born in Lindale, OH on June 10,1948 to Roy Francis Downing, Sr. and Alice Lorene Downing (Kilgore), joined our Lord on March 3, 2021. He was a proud and honorable veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in the Vietnam War, from 1967 to 1973, then continued his service with the Marine Corps Reserve until 1985.
Roy is survived by his wife of 49 years: Linda Downing (Scudder) of Clearwater, FL; children: Arde Downing of Clearwater, FL, Jason Downing and his wife Brandy of Largo, FL, and Carla Scudder and her partner Michael of Clearwater, FL; aunt: Connie Spears of Cincinnati, OH; brother: Ronald Downing and wife Vonda of Moorefield, IN; sisters: Linda Furnish of Vevay, IN and LaDona Scudder of Plant City, FL; and grandchildren: Logan and Colin Downing of Largo, FL, Shane Scudder of Clearwater, FL, Monica Scudder of Pinellas Park, FL, and Jordyn Scudder of Bennington, IN.
