Karen Louise (Sovinec) DeVack, 57, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, after a battle with Pancreatic Cancer, in her home in St. Petersburg surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Winamac, IN on July 16, 1964 to Gary and Barbara (Picman) Sovinec.
Karen graduated from La Porte High School in 1982. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in 1986. After graduation she moved to Florida where she lived for many years raising her beloved sons and building her career in the mortgage industry.
She was kind, selfless, and loving and her smile spread light wherever she went.
She is survived by her husband, Michael DeVack of St. Petersburg; her two sons, Max (Allie Lollis) Michalski of Seminole, FL, and Lucas (Megan Roach) Michalski of Gulfport, FL; her parents, Gary and Barbara Sovinec of La Porte, IN; her brother, Steve Sovinec of Rolling Prairie, IN; her niece, Laurissa (Justin) Marchino and great-nephew, Grady, of Vincennes, IN; and her uncle, Bob (Dorothy) Sovinec, of DeLand, FL.
A celebration of Karen’s life will take place on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 2–4pm at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club (11 Central Ave., St. Pete, FL). All are welcome.
